Meditation can feel the best when you’re able to find peace and calm.  But it can be difficult to keep your thoughts from wandering, stay focused on the present moment, or overcome physical discomfort when meditating for long periods of time. That’s why meditation tools can make life easier. You can use them whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned meditator. We’ll cover some of the best meditation tools (in our opinion) in this article – see what works best for you!

Best Meditation Tools

1. Headspace App

Headspace is an app that helps you learn and practice mindfulness in a guided and interactive way. It starts out with 10 simple lessons that introduce the best meditation practices, and gradually increases in difficulty as you move through the program. Headspace has been designed to suit beginners and lifelong meditators alike – it’s flexible, so you can skip or replay any content at any time.

It’s not just about learning techniques though, it also offers practical advice for when you’re dealing with different types of stress, including emotional ones like anxiety and anger. Plus, there are always new features being added to the app to help you stay motivated – like challenges and awards for completing certain milestones.

2. Meditation Chair

As great as meditation is, some people find the idea of sitting on the floor for long periods of time a crazy-making idea. Although meditation helps you connect with yourself, align your mind and body and can help induce relaxation but, only if you can sit comfortably.  There are many types of chairs available, from inexpensive to astronomical pricey, the key is to find something that works for you and almost pulls you in to sit and meditate.

Obviously, you don’t need a chair specifically for meditation, I just know for me, it helped me to create a meditation practice I’m able to stick with. Having a space dedicated to meditation really kept me coming back at the beginning.  Here’s a link to two great ones.

3. Muse Meditation Headband

If you like data, the Muse 2 is for you. It’s hands down one of the best meditation tools I’ve found (outside the Lucia N03). Using Muse 2’s multi-sensors, you will receive real-time feedback on your brain activity, your heart rate, your breathing, and your body movements. Muse is an EEG device widely used by neuroscience researchers around the world. It interprets the signals from your brain to provide you with guidance. When your mind is calm and settled, you hear peaceful weather. You will hear stormy weather as your concentration drifts, cueing you to bring your attention back to your breath.

Track your progress over time and discover new things about your mind, heart, breath, and body with the Muse app. Muse also offers points, goals, challenges, and bonuses to keep you motivated and improving. Earn points every time you go, and you can adjust your goal to fit your needs.

It doesn’t matter how you meditate

It doesn’t matter how you meditate, if you use tools or not, all that matters is that you do it. The act of habitually sitting is what initiates the change. And, the changes can be profound. These are just a few of the things you may notice with regular meditation.

– Peaceful mind with lower mental noise

– Improved emotional stability

– Decreased anxiety and stress

– Greater attentiveness and creativity

– Improved focus and concentration

– Better decision-making skills

– Increased happiness levels
