What is white light meditation? Here at RE:MIND meditation we specialize in Lucia White Light meditation. It’s an effective way to meditate and achieve an altered state of awareness which leads to stress relief and better mental clarity. We use a device called the Lucia N°03 that helps guide the user into a meditative state.

People use the Lucia Light for many different reasons. But recently a lot of the feedback I’ve been receiving seems to be about how the light helps turn down the volume of the looped thinking or helps with the act of observing your thoughts and letting them go.

The benefits of white light meditation.

The Lucia light can help to naturally assist in slowing down your heart rate, lowering blood pressure, and soothing other sympathetic nervous system fight or flight functions. Additionally, when the body calms, breathing changes.

When we breathe deeper, with our belly, our diaphragm presses against our vagus nerve. This nerve is responsible for activating the relaxation response. When our diaphragm presses on it, it sends a signal to our brain that everything is ok, otherwise we wouldn’t be taking such deep slow calming breaths.

Taking deep breaths with our belly can be an invaluable searchlight when we’ve lost awareness.

In addition, the Lucia light assists in lowering baseline stress levels.

But, you don’t have to take my word for it, listen to what a few people have said about their experience under the light.

“It’s like you get to separate your brain activity (thoughts) from you. You are actually the observer. It’s wild and relaxing at the same time.” C. A.

“My stress level went from a 10 to a zero. I’m blown away by how it erased my stress. I came in stressed out and I left incredibly calm and zen after the session. I think I might have slept better that night too.” – M. M.

What is white light meditation and how does it work?

So, what is white light meditation exactly? In short, it’s a form of guided meditation using solid and flickering white light. It pulls you into a super relaxed state. Think the state between wakefulness and sleep. When you’re able to spend time in the in-between state your nervous system has the ability to rest. A lot of the time we’re so jacked up from the stressors of life that we’re not getting the rest required to function and feel good while doing it. Human-ing is hard yo!

The light enters through your retina, travels downs your optical nerve and helps to facilitate deep rest and relaxation. The body lets go and the analytical mind softens.

Tips for getting the most out of your session.

There is no one best way to use the Lucia Light. Some people prefer to do two shorter programs during a 60-minute appointment and others enjoy one long continuous session. Whichever way you choose to go there are a few things to keep in mind when using the Lucia Light.

Hydrate

Laying under the Lucia light can sometimes feel like you’ve spent the day in the sun which can leave some feeling dehydrated. Please make sure to drink water before you come. I will also have some for you at your session to take with you afterwards.

Limit Caffeine

Try to limit your caffeine intake before your session. If you have a morning session. If caffeine can heighten the feelings of anxiety sometimes, I’d recommend decaf or holding off until afterwards if possible. That all being said, you know your body best so do as you wish.

Remove Contacts

If you wear contact, please make sure to bring your case and solutions with you so you can remove them. The light occasionally gets warm so it’s best not to wear them if you have sensitive eyes.
